Welcome

Welcome to Nepean Speech and Language services, where we have a wonderful team of speech pathologists who are passionate about helping children and adults achieve the gift of communication.

Our therapists are chosen very carefully.   Our team are not only honest, caring and trustworthy, but they are also fun and highly motivated, and ready to guide you or your child on the journey of learning to talk / communicate.

Established in 1986, and still going strong, we are highly respected, and are able to offer you experience across all ages and all disabilities. We are a family friendly practice. We understand the financial burdens that having a child or family member with communication difficulties can place on a family, which you will find reflected in our fees.

What is a speech and language pathologist?

A speech and language pathologist/therapist is someone who has been professionally trained to advise, diagnose and treat people who have a range of difficulties with their communication skills. These difficulties may include speech, language (both understanding and using language), writing, reading, stuttering, hearing, and voice. We also work with a range of disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down's Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Fragile X, hearing impairments, post-stroke rehabilitation, and voice disorders.

When should I be concerned?

Children

Children are expected to develop their speech and language skills at different ages. Children with speech and/or language difficulties can have dificulties both within the pre-school and school settings as well as interacting with others.

For information about children's milestones under the age of 5, and school age language development, see our children's section.

Adults

If you notice any change in your ability to use your voice, understand what others are saying, or expressing yourself you should consult a speech pathologist. Click here for further information.
